I cannot say enough good things about Sugar Hill Animal Hospital, or recommend it any more highly. The staff is extremely professional and caring, and you can tell they love animals as much as their customers do. Our Miniature Schnauzer Maddy was very sick the last year and a half, before we finally did lose her recently. Dr. Thomas was wonderful to Maddy, and so kind and patient with us. He was always available to discuss our options, or just to lend a sympathetic ear. When it was time to let her go, the whole staff went above and beyond, all of them coming in to give us hugs, with Rita even offering to go get us pizza after. They had grown to love Maddy almost as much as we did! Now we have a new Miniature Schnauzer puppy, Riley, and we trust Sugar Hill Animal Hospital so much, she goes there every day for puppy day care while we are at work, and she loves it! We would never take our pets anywhere else. We appreciate the spotless, state of the art facility, flexibility with scheduling, boarding and grooming on site, and especially the terrific staff, from the vets, to the front desk staff, the vet techs and assistants, to the boarding and grooming personnel. And a special thank you as always to Dr. Thomas, who is just wonderful, and who we trust beyond a shadow of a doubt with our "baby".

Greetings to all who love their pets,
Dr. Hamryka has been our veterinarian for over 13.5 years. Our beloved schnauzer Gretchen was among his first customers at Sugar Hill Animal Hospital. I think of our family as charter members. Dr. Hamryka has been there to welcome the newest furry members of our family and comforted us after we broken heartedly had to say goodbye to our precious little ones who have crossed the rainbow bridge. We moved from Sugar Hill nine years ago and felt there were many good veterinarians closer to our home, but none that measured up to Dr. Hamryka. Therefore we drive almost 2 hours back to Sugar Hill from Hiawassee because we feel the standard of care for our furry family members is above and beyond the norm. Being able to observe your loved one as they undergo a critical procedure through the big picture window is priceless. During the 13.5 years I have been amazed with the vast number of hairy patients in and out of the building everyday it is always immaculate. The staff is always friendly and helpful. A special thanks also to Dr.Seibert and Dr. Thomas who saved the life of our beloved schnauzer Blaze.
God Bless Dr. Hamryka and all of the staff at Sugar Hill Animal Hospital.

When I moved to Sugar Hill in the year 2000, at that time I had a Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier named Cara. I decided to take Cara to Sugar Hill Animal Hospital for her vet care and just loved the staff and veterinarians. The whole staff is so caring, helpful and friendly. Cara passed away in 2004 at a great age of 14 ½. Now I am a proud owner of two beautiful Bouvier Des Flandres. My girl Casey is 4 ½ years old and my boy Tigger is 2 years old, and they have been seeing Dr. Hamryka since they were puppies. I am very happy with the care my dogs get and my dogs love the attention they get from the whole staff.
This year I decided to help foster rescued Bouviers through the American Bouvier Rescue League, and Dr. Hamryka and his staff have been so great in helping us to get these foster dogs the proper health care they so desperately needed. Not all the fosters were easy to handle, but the patience and dedication of everyone at Sugar Hill Animal Hospital helped get them on the right track and into loving homes.
Big thanks and gratitude to Dr. Hamryka and the whole staff from Casey, Tigger, foster dogs Phoebe, Kaos, Isis, Reba, Loretta, American Bouvier Rescue League and myself.

I moved to Buford a few years ago with my three huge dogs and my husband. Ever since then, we have enjoyed going to the cheerful, yellow house that is Sugar Hill Animal Hospital. Their love for the animals is obvious in the genuine care and concerns that Dr. Hamryka and his staff gives to their furry clients and their owners.
In addition, as a volunteer for Adopt A Golden Atlanta, I have brought many rescued Goldens in various stages of mental and physical distress to this hospital where they are showered with very special consideration.
It means everything to us that our precious pups are in such excellent hands so MANY THANKS to Dr. Hamryka and his wonderful staff for all of your good works!

My dogs, Roadie and Roxy, are my kids - my furkids. They mean the world to me. My oldest, Roadie, has doggie diabetes so we have been at the vet clinic a fair amount. My go-to vet is Dr. Karinda Elliott who is fantastic. She has provided so much advice, direction, patience, and kindness. I am on overprotective dog mom and I ask lots of questions. She patiently answers each one in a way that's easy to understand and she's willing to discuss the treatment in person and over the phone. My dogs just love going to the vet! Roadie in particular is a mama's dog and normally when she had to go to the back, she would hide behind me. But now she willingly goes with Dr. Elliott and/or her vet tech, Wendy. I also can't say enough about the vet techs, Wendy in particular. They all are very patient, helpful, and really care about their clients and our animals. Wendy just loves on my dogs like they were her own. Your front desk staff is the tops - they are friendly and couldn't be more helpful or kind. I decided to change vet clinics about a year ago or so. I couldn't be happier with my choice. I like the fact that the owner was involved in sponsoring the Gwinnett ER clinic and the fact that there are 5 doctors on staff. I like that the doctors can bounce ideas off each other for tough cases and there seems to be little "competition". I believe this type of environment can really help keep our animals safe, sound, and well. Which in the end is what matters.

I love bringing Cinnamon to Sugar Hill Animal Hospital. My 1-year old terrier puppy, Cinnamon, is always treated VERY well. I have taken Cinnamon to Sugar Hill for check-ups, vaccinations, and boarding. First, this is the cleanest animal hospital I've ever seen. Second, the staff always treats Cinnamon gently, being careful to pet and play with her, but to also make sure she is comfortable. The prices are always fair, especially for boarding (boarding rates are much lower than at PetSmart's Pet's Hotel).
But the biggest reason I take Cinnamon here is that I trust them with my baby. The staff always takes care of how they hold her. I always receive a check-up phone call from Dr. Boyce when I have taken Cinnamon in, and I always receive detailed feedback, whether its form a routine check-up or boarding her. This is a staff who loves animals, and I feel safe having them care for Cinnamon.
As long as Dr. Boyce and Sugar Hill Animal Hospital is around, they will be taking care of Cinnamon!

I have been taking my dogs to Sugar Hill Animal Hospital since 2006. There are other veterinary care facilities closer to where I live, but I am so pleased that I continue to go there and refer them to anyone who asks for a vet referral. Not only is the facility beautiful and immaculate, but the staff is amazing. The doctors and staff are the best veterinary team I have ever met; they truly love and care about the welfare of my pets. I have complete trust and confidence in Sugar Hill Animal Hospital and highly recommend them for all your veterinary needs.
Dr. Karinda Elliott has taken exemplary care of my dogs for several years, and I have been extremely pleased with the caliber of care she has provided. Dr. Elliott is always available to talk with me if I have a question or concern about my pets. She answers any questions that I may have in person or by phone and seems to always make time for my pets needs in her busy schedule. I always feel questions are welcome and Dr. Elliott spends whatever time is required to provide answers. When one of my dogs was diagnosed with cancer, she called on more than one occasion inquiring as to the condition of him, indicating her genuine caring and concern, as well as her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Karinda Elliott for providing years of quality care to my beloved "fur babies". Her kind and understanding way makes me feel as if she is not only my favorite veterinarian but a friend as well.

Our dogs have been receiving care from the wonderful doctors at Sugar Hill Animal Hospital for seven years now. From yearly exams and vaccinations to a beloved dog with cancer, the doctors and vet techs are always caring and concerned. The Saturday hours are great for us also. Our family would highly recommend using Sugar Hill Animal Hospital for your family's pet.

I first came to Sugar Hill Animal Hospital after moving from Denver - I needed a new vet for my four cats, and the proximity to my house and the attractiveness of the building are what initially drew me in as a client. What has kept me coming back is the friendliness of the staff - when Lucy broke her foot and I brought her in for her checkups, everyone at the clinic always recognized her and treated her like the special kitty that she is. Dr. Boyce and her assistant, Rachael, are awesome - they are knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions that I have. I would highly recommend SHAH to anyone who values the health of their pets.

I have been coming to Sugar Hill for several years now (since 1999). One thing I like about Sugar Hill is that it is a very clean environment and well kept which is very important to me for the health of my dogs. I also like that Sugar Hill is using advanced equipment like laser for surgery and digital x-rays.
I am someone that likes consistency so although Sugar Hill has several DVMs practicing at its facility I have only had most of my experience with 2 DVM's (except for a few emergency appts) which I just love(d). One from the past was Dr. Stephanie Harvey and my current Dr. Karinda Elliott. I cant say enough about these two ladies! Stephanie was a wonderful vet and I was very sad to learn she was leaving the practice to move out west , however I was very relieved with the support and care I have received from Karinda after I transitioned from Stephanie. Karinda is wonderful and I feel at ease when I bring my dogs in for issues or their regular checkups. She is very informed, open minded, warm and understanding. She is always happy to discuss and explain anything that may come up in detail, as I tend to ask a lot of questions!!!! AND of course she always has a friendly smile!! The follow-up phone calls after the visits making sure all is ok are great and the fact she can keep all off my dogs name straight and remember each case with ease is wonderful!!!! My dogs are part of my family and as of right now we are owned by 6 Pomeranians all assorted ages, sizes and quirks. Having Karinda (and staff) help us to keep them healthy and happy so they can live many years is very important to me!
The staff I would also like to recognize as I know they help Karinda give the excellent care she provides me. I know there is more staff that help the wheels to turn at Sugar Hill than just the handful that I am noting but those noted have made a particular impression with me as I have interacted with them through out the years. Each has been just as wonderful. Jenn the front desk receptionist who always remembers to ask about my boy pom Cody affectionately known as "Awesome Possum"! Rita the Head Technician who always took time out to say hi, perform RX refills & updating me on the latest, Wendy the Vet Tech who has been there for most of the appts taking temperatures, consoling and petting anyone of my gang that needs the attention and her sister Heather the head receptionist for being so kind and remembering us every time we walked in the door!

It wasn't just that Dr. Thomas and his staff saved our kitty's life; or that Dr. Thomas stayed late into the night performing emergency reconstructive surgery; or that he and his staff cared for our kitty for a month as if he was their own. The real deal with the Sugar Hill Animal Hospital is the overall professional, friendly and loving care that the entire staff provides - ALL of the time. We have had pets for over 25 years and never experienced the kind of dedication that Sugar Hill provides.
Thank you Dr. Thomas and Staff.

I first met Dr. Boyce about 18 months ago as friends. Not long after that first meeting, our 6 year old pug, Holly, was not feeling well on a Saturday. She would not eat and was very sleepy. After watching her get worse on Saturday into Sunday, I called Dr. Boyce on Sunday evening. She spent close to 20 minutes on the phone with me trying to figure out what might be wrong. We determined she would be fine through the night but I should bring her into the clinic on Monday morning. I dropped off Holly and about an hour later Dr. Boyce called to say she wanted to do an x-ray as the blood work looked okay. Holly was x-rayed and I was called to come look at the film, to which I said “what are those".... Dr. Boyce said they were quarters in her stomach. Holly immediately had surgery to remove two quarters which she had swallowed. After 4 days at the clinic she was home and back to being our happy "puggy bank." I now have a new puppy (that Holly finds very entertaining) and I trust their care only to Sugar Hill Animal Hospital.
